Junior / Intermediate Public Health Design Engineer - London
The Client and the Role
Our client is a well-known building services consultancy who is looking for an intermediate Public Health Design Engineer working with a senior engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The firm has worked on a number of high-profile projects in the UK and have grown steadily over the past few years. They are now in a position to increase their recruitment and, therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of challenging and exciting projects. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, architects and engineers as part of a dedicated and skilled team.
Responsibilities
Liaise with clients and attend briefings and design meetings to fully understand their public health design requirements
Present recommendations and proposal solutions to the client whilst summarising advantages and disadvantages of each
Subsequently undertake detailed design and develop layouts, schematics and details in accordance with the brief using the appropriate CAD design software
Project management of projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery is on time and within budget
Coordinate design work with other members of the team
Prepare technical specifications and schedules as required
Plan and manage CAD documentation of all design work undertaken
Prepare briefing documentation for approved delivery suppliers and/or review design information from approved delivery suppliers to ensure compliance with briefing requirements
Communicate important design decisions to the wider team to ensure they are kept informed and to enhance collaboration
Assist the Bids Team with the preparation of fee submissions and project bids, assuming responsibility for the review of technical designs
Requirements
Previous experience of above and below ground drainage
Degree qualified in Building Services or a related subject
Strong technical knowledge of UK regulations and design guides
Strong knowledge of design software packages such as AutoCAD, Hevacomp etc
Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
